Prince Setanta RAM on the crest of a wave.

10th October 2013

Prince Setanta Royal Ark Mariners Lodge no. 1446 meeting at Poulton Le Fylde, has Elevated its’ second candidate of this masonic season in quick succession.

Bro. Frank Kennedy & Bro. Andy Stansfield
At his Installation in March the new Worshipful Commander, Bro. Tony Cross’s first job as to call a ballot for a new joining member, which proved successful, then he was able to announce that the Lodge also had four new candidates in the “pipe line”.

V.W.Bros. Colin Moxey and John Clarke both RAMGR
The first of these, Bro. Andrew Stansfield, the immediate Past Master of Imperial Mark Lodge, was Elevated in to Prince Setanta RAM, towards the end of September, in a splendid ceremony by the Worshipful Commander and officers of his Lodge.

The Director of Ceremonies, W. Bro. Mel Cross Prov.RAMGR. (the Worshipful Commanders father), suggested to the members that he wouldn’t like to see the other candidates coming into a Royal Ark Mariner Lodge “two by two”, but called on the Secretary to ask the Provincial Secretary for a dispensation to hold an extra meeting. This was eagerly granted as not too many Royal Ark Mariner Lodges ask for extra meeting because of the large number of candidates they have!

As it was an extra meeting the only business of the night was to Elevate the W. Commanders good friend Bro. Frank Kennedy the Senior Warden of Bispham with Norbreck Mark Lodge No.866. All was going fine until the W. Commander was called to Portsmouth due to work commitments and with just a few hours’ notice a substitute was needed.

Who better to call on but one of the Provincial Deputy Grand Directors of Ceremonies W. Bro. David Bell Prov.RAMGR. who delivered a faultless ceremony of Elevation assisted by V.W.Bro. Colin Moxey, who in his own quiet and confident style explained the working tools.

Bro. Frank Kennedy was suitably impressed with his ceremony and perhaps proved the Director of Ceremonies right that Elevations are very special and individual to each candidate. After a hot pot supper the Brother Royal Ark Mariners made their way home knowing they had increased their number by one and that at their next two meetings their numbers would carry on increasing. Which just goes to show that even in a small town like Poulton, candidates really are waiting to join the Royal Ark Mariners Degree but we do need to look for them.
